“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.” (Galatians 6:9, NASB)
Scripture is clear that God is concerned about salvation and the eternal destiny of humankind. Yet the Bible is equally clear that He cares deeply for those suffering injustice, oppression, hunger, and poverty. In expressing those concerns, God calls us - His people - to be agents of change in the world by the power of His Spirit. One day, history will not measure us by what we have achieved or accomplished, but by how faithfully we lived to make this world reflect His saving grace, love and compassion.
AFnet exists as such an agent of change in Africa. Our mission is to make Christ’s last command our first priority. We are committed to responding holistically to His Great Commission to make disciples of all nations. That means reaching orphans and widows, the poor and the outcast, with the same urgency and devotion as when we host an evangelistic campaign, plant a new church, or train pastors. While discipling believers, our commitment extends to accompanying the dying, seeking justice, expressing mercy, caring for widows and orphans, and feeding the hungry. Simply put, we desire to mobilize the whole Church to proclaim the whole gospel to the whole person.
We have learned that the most effective way to create lasting impact is not through imposing an outside agenda, but through listening and genuinely engaging with local leaders and communities. Over the years, by building trusted relationships, AFnet has partnered with churches, community leaders, and ministries to strengthen their capacity and equip them to serve their own people. This spirit of collaboration has saved lives, expanded opportunities, and shaped a future filled with hope.
From the outside, Africa may appear caught in a downward spiral of wars, corruption, political instability, population pressures, and poverty. Yet we believe with all our hearts: there is Hope! Through AFnet’s integrated approach, we are seeing fruit. Vibrant churches are being planted. Thousands of pastors, evangelists, and church planters have been trained. Even more encouraging, these churches and leaders are now discipling their members and reaching their neighbors in practical, life-giving ways. A new generation of African leaders is emerging - men and women who minister with wisdom, integrity, justice, and mercy. And because of this, Africa is changing.
For us, success is not measured merely by how many churches we have planted, how many pastors we have trained, or how many orphans we have cared for. Instead, success is measured in transformed lives and renewed communities that reflect the light of Christ. That is the vision. And, you are a vital part of it. Thank you for your faithful partnership. We remain deeply dependent upon your prayers and your ongoing support, which make this ministry possible and sustainable.
As we look to the year ahead, AFnet is “all systems go.” The mission is strong, but so are the challenges. Meeting the needs of Bible students, church planters, and orphan care requires faithful, ongoing support. We know the Lord is faithful to stir generous hearts, and we trust Him to meet every need. With that I’m reminded that God increases the ability of believers who give generously, to give even more. When we intend to be a blessing, He enables us to bless others. The apostle Paul reminds us: “Now this I say, the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows generously will also reap generously.” (2 Corinthians 9:6, NASB) Thank you for standing with us in prayer and generosity. Together, we are sowing seeds of hope and reaping a harvest that is changing lives across Africa.
A word from Johan
Your year-end gift - sewn into this ministry - becomes more than a financial contribution. It becomes part of Christ’s mission to the nations. It equips leaders, strengthens churches, and extends the reach of the Gospel to the unreached. Like the wise men who brought their treasures to the feet of Christ, may we too bring our best to the service of His Kingdom. Would you prayerfully consider a significant, tax-deductible year-end contribution to AFnet? Your generosity will empower us to re-engage in ministry in even more strategic ways than ever before. With deep gratitude, and with prayer for a blessed Christmas.
